Meet the Team - Shannon Griffiths

Over the last few months, we have been profiling a team member each month.  So far, we have met Lloyd, our sales assistant, Greg our senior fitter, Becky one of our directors and Paul who is our warehouse manager.

This month we meet Shannon who is our general assistant.

At Greenstream Flooring we are committed to supporting employability and providing work opportunities for local people by creating prospects through sustainable employment.

We are very proud of the work our team do and how they develop over time with us.

1.  Why did you choose to apply for a job with Greenstream?

I left university and was looking for a job, then this opportunity came up, so I just went for it.

2. You joined in 2019. How’s it gone so far?

I joined in November 2019, so by the time my probation period ended, and I had the job, Covid-19 appeared so it’s been crazy but honestly, I’ve learned so much. It’s been a unique experience, but I wouldn’t have it any other way.

3.  What’s the team like to work with?

I’ve definitely found some friends for life working here.

4.  How do you like dealing with the general public?

It’s great. I mean you meet so many people. It's nice to see things from different perspectives and hear people's stories.

5.  What has been the most important lesson you have learned so far?

Don’t take things to heart. Dealing with a variety of people can get tough so you’ve got to learn to just let things go over your head sometimes.

6.  What is the best bit about your job?

Learning, I’m always learning something new which is great.

7.  How would you describe the office environment?

One day you’ve got paperwork coming out of your ears and other days can be calm. Every day is so different. You don’t know what you’re walking into until the day comes but I like how my job is definitely not predictable.

8. Did you know that carpet could be recycled before you joined Greenstream; and how do you feel now about recycling?

Honestly no, I had no idea that carpet could be recycled, but now working in a recycling company for nearly two years I definitely have the recycling bug. I’m always making sure the right things are in the right bags etc.

9.  Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

I just want to be successful and happy. At the moment I haven’t got any set goals.

10. What’s been your proudest moment?

I have anxiety so when I knew I had to talk to people on the phone it would make me feel sick but having a supportive team around me helps and now I’m making phone calls every day, talking to strangers. Handling things on my own makes me feel proud. It’s only something small but the small things make me proud because two years ago I wouldn’t even make my own doctor’s appointment, because I would get so anxious.
